TICKETS: $100/person

This is a perfect workshop for beginning gardeners, no matter how small (or big) your growing space may be!

Just in time for spring, this workshop will give you the tools and confidence to establish a thriving home garden this year.

This is a foundational class for beginning gardeners – whether you plan to grow in containers/pots, raised beds, or in a larger space directly in the ground. The first portion of the workshop will be a seated overview of helpful garden topics, then the majority of our time will be spent outside on the farm, with hands-on opportunities to explore different garden designs and practice seeding, transplanting, watering, fertilizing, and harvesting. Each person will also go home with a small tray of veggie seedlings that we will start together.

The workshop will cover the following topics:

  • Site selection and garden design

  • Seed starting basics and proper planting techniques (and knowing which veggies should be planted as seeds vs transplanted as seedlings)

  • Soil testing and maintaining soil fertility for healthy, thriving plants

  • Additional topics include (but not limited to) – irrigation, harvesting tips, companion planting, and integrated pest management.

A few weeks prior to the workshop, participants will be asked to fill out a brief survey, asking about the specifics of your growing space, types of plants you'd like to grow, amount of time you'd like to spend in your garden each week, etc. This survey will allow us to tailor the workshop to fit your needs, and cover all your questions!
